Clio Cup Bohemia Race 1

Tomas Pekar won from pole on

Thirty-one drivers started the first Clio Cup Bohemia race at the Hungaroring. Czech driver Thomas Pekar, starting from pole position, held the lead until the end, securing a lights-to-flag victory. With this win Pekar moved closer to second place in the championship standings – Bartolomiej Mireczki had already clinched the championship title in Brno and did not travel to Hungary. Behind Pekar, Poland’s Rafal Paprota and Slovenia’s Matic Presa engaged in a fierce battle, with Paprota ultimately prevailing to take second place ahead of Presa. Paprota had further reason to celebrate, as he also finished as the top driver among the juniors. Tight battles for position unfolded throughout the rest of the field as well: Poland’s Filip Dziwok and Slovakia’s Dawid Babraj vied for sixth place, while Slovenia’s Jorg Sodnik and Czech drivers Jakub Vondracek and Martin Tóth contested for the positions from 11th place on.. Two drivers were forced to retire following a collision—Swiss competitor Nico Wuest made contact with Poland’s Alan Kluza, and both were compelled to end their race prematurely.

Tomas Pekar: „Driving here for the whole weekend was quite difficult, because the track is little bit more slippery because of low temperature. By low temperatur is difficult to handle the car and be constant and very easy to make a mistake. I was leading the race, I was alone in the front, I was fighting with myself to be so constant as possible.”

Malic Presa: „The race went very well for me, maybe the start was not so good because I went to the outside. Then I overstook the two guys who overttook me and I went to the second place.”

Rafal Parrota: „My race was good. On the first five laps I had a good pace, but after a while a track was very slippery and I have some problems with my breaks so I made multiple mistakes. So Presa catched and overtook me. I was trying to keep his pace and just finis hon the third position and I did it, and I am happy for catching the Joniur’s first place.”
